carnatic music (Karnāṭaka saṅgītam) is one of the two main styles of Indian classical music linked to South India. it is considered the original form of Indian music, and remains untouched by Persian influences. it features a complex rhythmic system heavily rooted in mathematics. in addition, while the lyrical content of hindustani music (Śāstrīya saṁgīt) largely features more worldly topics, carnatic music possesses a very devotional aspect.
